That is so awful!!! There's no worse feeling than the sinking feeling at the bottom of your stomach when you have been violated in some way. It's too bad that there are people in the world who are so self centered that they cannot respect other people's property. I think your mom's right...you should see this as an opportunity to practice forgiveness. Hatred and dwelling are obviously not the answer. It's unfortunate that this happened, but maybe there was a reason why it happened to you, a deeper meaning. I hope you are able to get it all cleaned up.

Josh-
So sorry about your car. Chances are, you didn't do anything to inspire that. Maybe you'd rather think there is a good reason for it, as opposed to it being a totally random act, but even if there WAS something you did that made someone mad (like accidentally cutting off another driver) you'll probably never know what it was.

My suggestion is that you look at it as an opportunity to practice forgiveness, because the only other option is to "stew" about it,which will only make YOU feel more miserable. And that means the "perp" has the power. If/when you CHOOSE forgiveness, that's when you take back your power. (Of course, if you somehow find out who did it and whip his butt, that might do it too. But I don't recommend that, since the consequences might be worse than the original insult.) Anyway, I know it's easier said than done, but sometimes acceptance, with forgiveness, is the only way out of the anger. And anger is always best left behind you. ;^)
Affectionately,
Mom
P.S. Your very late birthday gift is finally being shipped--in several boxes. Sorry about that. Did you get the e-card?
